Bella’s Polish Independence Dinner – One night only!

Chef Bella, comes from a long line of Polish female chefs, the first being her great grandmother Rozalia who cooked at a presbytery in a small town, not far from Warsaw Poland. ‘You could always taste the love in her food’ say’s Bella, and she passed on her skills to Bella’s grandmother, Ula, who was a diplomatic caterer. Eventually the family tradition lying with Bella and her 3 sisters, and hopefully with their children to come.

This month we celebrate the 100 year independence of Poland, with a special Polish menu at Tallagandra Hill winery. Listen to Polish music, while Bella teaches you a bit of history about the spirit of the Polish people and how their cuisine is shaped by its multiple wars and occupations.

first course:
Zak?ski: antipasta of smoked ham, sausage, fresh salmon caviar, pickles, rye bread, herrings with apple and sour cream

second course:
Ruskie Pierogi: dumplings stuffed with potato and quark cheese, spring onion butter

third course:
Sopotska ryba w panierce: Sopot style crumbed barramundi fillets, horseradish sauce, lemon
Mizeria: cucumber salad with dill and sour cream dressing

fourth course:
Gulasz ciel?cy po w?giersku: Hungarian style veal gulash
Klopsy z indyka w sosie borowikowym: turkey meatballs in porcini cream sauce
Ziemniaczki po góralsku: mountain style roast potatoes with marjoram
Surówka z kapust? i jab?kiem: Cabbage + apple salad with toasted sunflower seeds

fifth course:
Mus sernikowy: Creamy cheesecake mouse, amaretti, poppyseed, candied orange
Surprise selection of polish sweet treats

Italian sparkling and still water, and coffees included in the price
Polskie herbaty: teas: Chamomile, Hibiscus, Black tea with lemon, Melissa (similar to mint)

The 5 course menu will be served sharing style, as we celebrate the spirit of Solidarity – a nobel peace prize winning movement led by Polish hero Lech Wa??sa. It’s based on a sense of togetherness which is reflected in politics – but also at the dining table.

There are 5 courses, and 9 different dishes to try in this banquet.

Plus, you can order order a delicious wine from the Tallagandra Hill vineyard, or try some Polish vodka and beer!
