Our 2023 vintage has proved to be a huge winner! Winning a trophy for Best Alternative Variety at the 2023 Australian Cool Climate Wine Awards.
Originating in Southern Italy, but with a strong Spanish influence, Vermentino offers vibrant cumquat on the nose and has characteristic wild herb and citrus flours.

Our Back in the Day Chardonnay is a wine for social occasions, reflecting on memories and good times. A collaboration with our nearest neighbour in our common terroir, this wine represents the spirit of country living so much a part of Mary’s family gatherings reminiscing about back in the day in Ireland.
Soft in structure, the wine highlights pear and apple flavours, with 40% oak adding depth to the wine. This is a wine for all occasions shared with friends and family across generations.

Tempranillo is proving to be ideally suited to the climate of Gundaroo in the Canberra region.
With its origins in Spain, this flamboyant variety produces rich, black grapes, leading to a wine of savoury character with rounded rich dark fruit flavours. It requires special attention in the vineyard with a longer ripening period than other varieties, leading to its status as The Favourite Son. Our Tempranillo is feisty yet balanced, just like our two favourite sons, Ben and Sam.

Our Cabernet Sauvignon draws its character from the unique terrain and cool climate ripening period at Gundaroo in the Canberra wine district.
This vintage is a full-bodied wine with dark fruit characteristics, and refined tanins, savoury on the palate. While born and raised in Europe, it is a typical Aussie battler, with a rich character and lots of stories to tell. This wine celebrates the community of Gundaroo, a small town with a big heart. There are no cabbies in Gundaroo, just good people helping each other out.

The Good Soldier celebrates the coming together of two Australian favourites – Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon – producing a full bodied wine with rich flavor and a bold personality.
The Good Soldier works hard in often unforgiving conditions, has a song in its heart and a strength of character. It blends the dark cherry flavours of our cool climate shiraz (65%) with the full-bodied savoury fruit tones of cabernet sauvignon (35%).

She thoughtfully nurtured a network of family, friends and acquaintances – whether they be royals or labourers. Our distinctive Sparkling Viognier is made from hand-picked, home-grown grapes from Tallagandra Hill. Its fresh, clean taste on the palate combines with a note of stone fruit, red apple and lychee to produce a wine that is perfect for special occasions with distinguished guests and great friends. Lee always said ‘Diplomacy is best practiced over a glass of bubbles’.

Our Sparkling Shiraz is an elegant wine with a bite. It is rich on the palate, with the zest of spicy berry fruit flavours and a hint of chocolate. This signature wine is made from selected parcels of our Great Ron Shiraz grapes, grown at the highest point of Tallagandra Hill. It displays the characteristics of premium cool climate shiraz with just the right amount of fizz to lift any occasion. Serve this wine as an aperitif or when dining with friends.

Our shiraz is named after our beloved family patriarch, Ron Faulks.
Ron sadly passed away shortly before his 96th birthday, on the day we finished handpicking the 2017 vintage of this wine. He continues to watch over each year’s harvest. This wine has a fresh mint and white pepper nose, with blackcurrant and blackberry on the palate with a touch of dark chocolate on the finish.

Made from Tumbarumba Pinot Noir, this wine is bottled under the Elm Farm collaboration label – reflecting the spirit of the McAvoy family farm in Ireland. The wine highlights Pinot’s rhubarb and forest berry tones in a vivacious, youthful Rose. Full of floral character with a vigorous finish.

This captivating blend was inspired by the diverse culture and creative flair of Newtown where David and Mary spent the first 14 years of their marriage.
This is a wine that jumps out at you with strawberries on the nose and rich, full red fruit flavours on the palate. The Tempranillo adds depth to black plum and cherry tones of Shiraz and the well-developed tannins of Cabernet Sauvignon. This ‘farmers” blend is perfect for today’s bustling society – with a twist of rural calm. It stretches the boundaries of cool climate wines in the same way that we were stretched in our early days as the Newtown Farmers at Tallagandra Hill.

Made from our prized 2022 vintage of Cabernet Franc, this wine is named after family matriarch Eva McAvoy, who is gentle of spirit, young of heart and robust of character.
The Eva Rosé is made for those who enjoy social occasions with friends and family, without taking themselves too seriously. Typical of Cabernet Franc, it offers the taste of red apple, raspberries and roses with subtle sweetness on the palate.

In a challenging growing season, 2022 provided excellent growing conditions for this sophisticated white wine. Originating in Southern Italy, but with a strong Spanish influence, Vermentino offers vibrant cumquat on the nose and has characteristic wild herb and citrus flours.
This vintage was picked early to ensure a fresh, clean finish and good balance on the palate. It offers crisp acidity with subtle sweetness – a wine to drink on its own or with a variety of food. The Prodigal daughter is named for Mary – the youngest of eight McAvoy children from their farming family in Ireland. Mary has brought her Celtic heritage and talents all the way to Tallagandra Hill.

The 2023 Viognier displays typical varietal notes of Apricot and Lychee.
The fruit was divided into parcels then fermented in both French oak and stainless steel tanks. The batches were then blended to produce a wine with subtle oak and fresh fruit flavours. It is a wine with a depth of character and sophistication on the palate. Serve slightly chilled.

This wine pays tribute to all our canine friends – especially our much loved and sadly missed Mac and his sassy successor Poppy.
